Jerry Talton Sr. started his relationship with the maritime industry as a boy when he sold newspapers outside Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock. Then when the United States of America entered the Second World War following the bombing at Pearl Harbor, Jerry Talton joined the Navy and served in the Pacific aboard amphibious assault ships and in the storied Naval Construction Battalion.
